Storyboards and Animatics

My Layout Demoreel

Through the production, I had to do many things at the same time. Here, I took the time to make some comparison to check the similarity between the final render and the storyboard layout. Eventually, some changes occured while I was playing with the camera and it's always fun to see how much things can change and adapt to the story.

Like in any project where there's more than one storyboard, some sketches and scenes can be used again. I like to say ''It's like a never ending puzzle where the picture is always different''.

(here's some of my favorite sketches)

First animatic of ''LA PETITE BANSHEE''

At the beginning, the short was comporting 3 different sets, a grumpy mage and a hundred of bats. When the animatic has been done, it was clear to me that some ideas were way too much ambitious and I had to cut the story out and leave some precious ideas that I cherished like the scene with the big ovation of the bats and the mage that served as a parental figure. I had to make a project that could do alone in 8 months, so this was a time of change. Lots of change!

Second animatic of ''LA PETITE BANSHEE''

Here, the animatic has been remade to meet a more reasonable lenght for the short. More simple, one set, a lot less characters and a bit more emphasis on the childish personnality of the little banshee. The first animatic required more than 350 drawings. The second one required me a hundred more drawings (and I don't talk about the other 200 that I had to put in the deleted scenes. Storyboards are so much fun!)
